My stay at Tartan Lodge was quite disappointing. While the linen and towels seemed clean and the unique historical charm of the old church building was appealing, the overall condition of the room left much to be desired. I encountered issues like a filthy TV remote, no hot water, and a really uncomfortable bed, which definitely affected my experience.
Rooms
5.0
The room was in awful condition, with a stained carpet and a key card that hardly worked. The pillows were practically useless, and I found pubes in the soap dish. It felt like a creaky old ship.
Service
5.0
Some staff were nice, but the management's handling of bookings was appalling. They were unhelpful regarding key cards and were rude when I raised issues. I felt my concerns were ignored.
Location
5.0
The lodge is in a rough neighborhood, which put me off a bit. It's not very close to the city center, but it's near a few local sights, which might be a plus for some.
Dining
5.0
I didn't try the 'continental breakfast', but I overheard others describing it as terrible. There seemed to be a lack of choice, and I wouldn't say it was worth the money.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities were inadequate. The communal bathrooms were okay, but there was no hot water, and the shared kitchen wasn't maintained well enough for cooking.

5.8/10
My stay at Tartan Lodge had its ups and downs. The unique historical setting was charming, but the double charging situation left a sour taste. While I appreciated the comfort of the bedding, the cleanliness of the communal areas was questionable, impacting my overall experience.
Rooms
5.0
The bedding was comfortable, yet I was disturbed by staff entering my room without warning early in the morning. The room itself was small but efficiently laid out, though the lack of privacy was frustrating.
Service
5.0
The staff were a mixed bag. While some were friendly and helpful, others were quite rude when I raised concerns. I even faced issues with being double charged, and my attempts to resolve this were met with unresponsive communication from the management.
Location
5.0
Its location was decent, just a minute from a bus stop. I could easily explore some nearby sights, but the surrounding area was not particularly vibrant or central, limiting my options for dining and entertainment.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was offered, but I found it expensive for what was available. The lack of healthy options was disappointing, making me wish there had been better value for money.
Facilities
5.0
I liked the atmosphere in the common areas and the well-equipped kitchen, but the cleanliness in some communal bathrooms was lacking. The dorms were spacious and offered a good use of space, although they could use some attention.

5.4/10
My recent stay at Tartan Lodge was a mixed experience. The building itself, a converted church, has unique charm, but I encountered several issues that overshadowed the positives. While the rooms were spacious and clean, my initial room was not as described and lacked the view I was promised. The staff's response to my concerns was less than professional, resulting in a less than satisfactory customer experience.

Staying at Tartan Lodge was quite the experience. The old church structure gave it a unique charm, and I found the bedding pleasantly comfortable. However, there were significant cleanliness issues and a rather unhelpful manager that detracted from my overall stay. I appreciated the proximity to transport options, which made getting around Glasgow easier. 🌍🛏️

My stay at Tartan Lodge was quite disappointing. While the beds were comfortable and the historical setting charming, I encountered several issues that overshadowed the experience. The lack of proper service and cleanliness in the room were significant drawbacks, making it hard for me to enjoy my time there.
Rooms

I was given a room that was poorly maintained and lacked basic amenities, which was a letdown given my expectations. It didn't even have windows, and was not at all what I had booked.
Service
5.0
The reception staff were rude and unhelpful when I raised my concerns about the room. One staff member even laughed off my complaint and offered no real solutions.
Location
5.0
The hostel's location was quite far from the city center (about a 30-minute walk), making it less convenient for exploring Glasgow. It also didn't help that my room wasn't ready upon arrival, delaying my check-in.
Dining
5.0
I opted not to try the breakfast after hearing from others that it was subpar. Just a few light options like cereal and bread didn't seem worth the price.
Facilities
5.0
The shared kitchen was one of the few highlights, as it was well-equipped for cooking, but overall, the uncleanliness of the common areas detracted from this.
